MELT!

Hello everyone!

I went over to Bintan Clubmed over the weekends, would be posting about the food and activities there soon! My parents, the boy and I went for Melt's Sunday Brunch previously and this is what we had!

Of course not to be missed, the chilled section! Oysters, sashimi. The sashimi was rather fresh, but not very sweet IMHO. The oysters were average. A random multi-seed bun, wasn't that fantastic

Assorted appetizers, lobster, crab. The cone thing over at the top isn't that yummy, cos the cone became soggy as they left it out in the open. The thing in the small cup is seared tune with cucumber and salmon roe! It was a delight eating it as the salmon roe popped in your mouth while eating and it was a great feeling :D

Seafood. Mom thought Hilton's Friday night seafood buffet was fresher and sweeter though!

Seafood and an eggs benny. The yolk did flow alright

Toast w foie gras and fig jam.
IMHO the foie gras IS MUCH TOO SMALL compared to Basilico, which is muchhhh cheaper and gives a MUCH better toast to foie gras ratio. I ended up eating the foie gras without the toast, otherwise you wouldn't be able to taste the foie gras at all.

Their dhall curry (top left) was not bad, but the grilled whole fish wasnt that yummy (left side of the plate - the white pieces of meat)

Mom said the roasted pig skin was really hard (middle of the plate in the foreground)

Clam chowder! Lots of ingredients! Not bad (:

Chocolate fountain! I know everyone gushes about choc fountains but I dont really see the fascinating thing about it unless it uses quality chocolate? And I prefer dark chocolate so, I usually skip chocolate fountains (and probably also because you can make your own chocolate fondue at home pretty easily)

Chilled butter, vanilla creme, berry compote, creme fraiche and assorted jams for you to accompany your crepe with

Chocolate puddings baking!

DESSERTS!!! The macarons were quite yummy (orange things there), the red things with the toothpicks were supposed to be green tea financiers but umm there was zero green tea taste. The mini opera cakes in the foreground was good! At the top right hand corner, I suspect those are Valrhona pralines? They were really good (:

The cake over to the left is called "The Melt", and we had to try the cake named after the restaurant! Gladly, it didnt disappoint! Its like chocolate mousse atop a crunchy base? The chocolate lollipops at the back arent really up my alley and the mini cheesecake with the red cherry on top wasn't to my liking as well (behind the caramel flans)

Left to right: Melt cake, waffle with tiramisu ice cream, green tea financier, orange macaron, mini opera. THE WAFFLES ARE TO DIE FOR. Please ask for hot ones when you go there!!! They're really crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside! Real joy to eat :D I couldnt help myself but order 2 though I was really stuffed frm the buffet! Tiramisu wasnt really like tiramisu btw

Chocolate pudding w vanilla ice cream. Was quite good! :D

Chocolate tart - the boy didnt think it was nice

Tiramisu shooter (too little ladyfinger biscuits in my opinion), strawberries that were really sweet, the unappetizing cheesecake, mango panna cotta shooter (nth much), few slices of fruits

Crepe Suzette - the boy thought this was umm quite bad

Salmon! THIS WAS REALLY GOOOOOOD!! Went back for many servings of this! Its basically cold salmon (I think it was baked a little?) topped with salmon roe! The salmon was really flaky and each bite you took had lil salmon roe bursting into your mouth and the salmon was really sweet and fresh!! Awesome~

Some salads

Appetizers

The cone thingys and soba

Pasta salads

Assorted hams

Bread corner

Mains

More mains

There's a grill section outside and these are some of the stuff they had to offer! Wagyu beef burger (looks really awesome huh? The boy said it was quite good!), lamb (it was goood), slipper lobster (okay-ish), mackerel (good good!)

We saw satays being grilled so we asked them if they had satays today and they said no but later a waiter brought a plate over and said they specially made some for us! Talk about good service! :D There was beef, pork and chicken satay, not bad I heard!

More salmon sashimi and the cold salmon I was raving about! :D (you probably can tell I'm a salmon girl, no?)

Fruits galore!!!! We saw some celebrity chef over here whom Mom was gushing about but I have no idea who he is haha, dont really watch TV you see. Anyway, the fruits were quite good! Quite sweet.

Mangoes and cherry. We didnt know but the mango was supposed to be for fruit juice only but we pointed it out to the person behind the counter and asked if he could cut it for us and he gladly obliged! :D We didnt expect him to give us the whole mango, haha but he did

Umm I think he doesnt know how to eat mangosteens cos uh he cut them up like that (yes those things on the left are mangosteens), and we had prunes as well (not really sweet though)

Pineapple, persimmon, watermelon, papaya, dragonfruit

Hehe :D The 2nd piece of waffle I told you about with vanilla creme! Went back and slathered the waffle with vanilla creme cos it was so yummy! And there were many vanilla bean specks in the creme, evidence of using the real stuff! :D thats mango sherbet there, quite appetising I must say!

Overall, I think the brunch was mm average? The food was generally okay but the waffles were wow awesome and so was the salmon! Other than that, I probably will not be back for a 2nd time.

Au Petit Salut

Hello!

So we woke up rather early last Saturday to go for lunch at Au Petit Salut which I've heard much about! They have set lunches and executive set lunches on weekends as well! Which is really value for money I think (: The boy ordered the executive set lunch and I've indicated what he ordered in my post as well. The rest are all ala carte!

Lobster bisque with lobster ravioli, herbs and parsley coulis

I must say, the soup was brimming with the taste of the sea! It was great and certainly one of the best I've had in Singapore! But it still doesn't beat The French Kitchen's! 4/5

Steamed Boston lobster, red grapefruit and avocado, herbs salad with tarragon dressing

Thick piece of lobster! The salad was really refreshing and it really awoken the palette! The grapefruit gave it a citrusy taste. It was a real delight eating this! 4.3/5

Bread rolls - heard from other bloggers that they're from Delifrance? We were only given this bread basket when we asked for it! Other tables which got there later than us already had their bread baskets and we were a little pissed. When we made an inquiry, they told us it was due to a private function upstairs.

Lobster Risotto with truffle and green asparagus, Parmesan shavings

First bite was mmmmm, pleasure!! It was a plate of creamy, heartwarming goodness! And the asparagus was fresh and crunchy, perfect contrast to the creamy goodness of the risotto! But sadly, after digging hungrily into the plate, I found a strand of hair at the bottom of the plate!! Alerted the waiter who promptly brought it back to the kitchen for it to be replaced

Homemade squid ink pasta with crab meat, tomato fondue (Part of executive set lunch)

We thought the pasta was a tad undercooked but the sauce was fab! 3.8/5

My lobster risotto without the hair! The whole risotto dish was flavourful, most importantly, it was not jia lat! Plus the lobster was quite a big one too! (: 4.3/5

Passionfruit souffle! This was part of the set that the boy ordered (: It was light and had a distinct passionfruit taste! We thought this was rather yummy but it paled in comparison to the other 2 desserts! 4/5

8 hours oven baked apple, light Calvados cream, vanilla and crumble

The apple sorbet on top was definitely refreshing and a clear palate cleanser! The foam was light and well, foam-y haha. Can't really rmb how it tastes like but it was interesting nonetheless! Reminds me of Tippling Club (: Below the sorbet was apples and nuts and a crumble topping which was good as well! 4.4/5

Sticky date and fig pudding, caramel and vanilla ice cream

This was the best dessert of the day! The cake was really moist and the taste was justttt right! Loved that the cake was studded with figs (I have a thing for figs btw :P) and the cake was gooey to the right texture! Awesome!! 4.6/5

The service was umm brisk and not very friendly, and we were quite annoyed about the bread basket as well. Also, when we asked for a change of table because the table they gave us was right nxt to another table outside. Though we were separated by a glass window, it was still too close for comfort. We were almost literally side-by-side!

And I realised haha, we had a really lobster-ish meal! But overall the food was great and we told ourselves we'd go back to try more of their dishes!
